The Plyo Push Up is an amazing alternative to the standard push up. It builds the bicep and chest muscles like a standard push up.
But more than that it build more forearm strength as well as explosive strength due to the quick bursts.
Start off slow with this exercise. Keep your hands shoulder width apart and go up for a normal push up. At the top of the push up press off the ground so that both hands come off the ground.
When you land go straight into the other half of your push up and go down.
Repeat the process.
Try setting a goal of hitting a certain time-frame with this exercise. For instance starting off with going for 15 seconds straight and work yourself up to a minute.
